NFL Throwdown Week 5

  • How impressive are Peyton Manning and the Colts at this point?  How in the hell were they only 3 point favorites over the Titans?
  • The Texans are the best at almost winning football games.
  • The Patriots can’t make up their minds of who they are these days. This is the not the same team who be guaranteed to close out a game when having a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter.
  • The Broncos are for real and we haven’t really believed that for quite some time now.
  • The Jaguars forgot how to play football somewhere during their trip to Seattle.  Welcome back Matt Hasselbeck.
  • I would not want to be in the 49ers lockeroom after being abused by the Falcons.
  • Matt Ryan is a freak and he’s going to be a legend in this game.  The Falcons are a big time football team again.
  • The “Cardiac Cats” maybe the lamest nickname I’ve heard for a team but there’s nothing feeble about their play especially in the clutch.  Maybe “The Clutch Cats” is more appropriate.
  • Two bad football teams, the Redskins and the Panthers, put on a good show Sunday.  Jim Zorn’s agent is already looking into getting him a spot on next season of “Dancing With The Stars”.
  • The Raiders are so bad, so bad in fact that David Carr’s scoring drives were enough to beat them soundly. That’s why the Giants are the best team in the NFC.
  • Hard to believe but this is the 1st 5-0 start in Brett Favre’s 19 seasons.  Apparently it’s the most talented team he’s ever been on.  Like Jared Allen locking up the DPOY Award already.  Maybe Favre is right because the Vikings are flat…out…sick.
  • Do the Rams even get embarrassed at this point or are they just used to it?  What’s up with the “stinky leg” dance when you’re down by 22 points?  That’s like celebrating if you contracted VD.
  • Is it me or are there a lot of really bad football teams this year?
  • The ESPN hair stylist(s) needs to be fired. What’s up with Mike Tirico leaving that smudge of hair right above his forehead?  I know the 80s are in but Suzy Kolber’s hair was hard to look at.
  • The Browns and Bills usually mean ugly football and that’s exactly what they delivered.  At least some teams remember their identities.
  • The Steelers won this week against the Lions but failed to beat them.  Yes, there is a difference.
  • The Wildcat offense ran wild again for the Dolphins on Monday Night Football but the real excitement came from the 2 young quarterbacks who gave fans a glimpse of what to expect from these 2 division rivals in the years to come.
